An interesting article Outsourcing: Beyond Bangalore just published in Business Week that describes the efforts some companies are expending to find outsourcing vendors in other countries besides India. They are “scouring” Eastern Europe and Latin America in search of outsourcing destinations less susceptible to attrition and inflation.
Of course, flying around the world to these far-flung locations is a time consuming process and not guaranteed to get you the best vendor after all. Who has time for this level of time and effort? Probably just the larger companies mentioned in the article.
If you don’t have months to spend to find a vendor, then finding a short-cut for this process is imperative. Some companies “fish for vendors” on job boards like Elance.com and Guru.com. But that is an iffy and time consuming approach too.
As the article points out, outsourcing to India is still a very viable option. But as costs increase, India will face increased competition for you business from other destinations around the world.
Are you still India focused or looking at other regions of the world?
